The intake consists of four parts. Set aside at least an hour for your visit.
- History
- Acugraph
- Physical Exam
- Discussion, Schedule, & Budget
Let’s have a closer look at each.
History–
This is where I listen to your lay it all on the table. Some are really good at this, others not so much. The history is the most important aspect of your entire visit because the circumstances surrounding your condition are inseparable from the condition itself.
Patients often feel unheard. Critical information shared during the history will dictate the direction of treatment. Furthermore, the history is often key to providing a coherent explanation for what you have been experiencing. You know this, but have been ignored.
During history taking questions might be asked in an effort to determine a pattern underlying the condition as a whole, otherwise, the floor is yours. Up to 30 minutes.
Acugraph–
The Acugraph is an objective measure of the flow of organs and channels in your body. Just as the heart pumps by electrical impulses, organs too have electrical qualities that can be measured for purposes of diagnosis and treatment. The Acugraph is a visual representation of your specific and overall health picture, revealing patterns and relationships that we not only discuss but can use for directing our treatment strategy.
Physical Exam–
The second most important aspect of the visit is the physical exam. The purpose here is to determine all sites of tension and discomfort in the body. This reveals vital information about the following factors:
- Structural imbalance
- Digestive function
- Relationship between structural and organ imbalance
- Central Nervous System imbalance
- Status of fluid metabolism
- Metabolic status overall
- Heart and lung imbalance
- Infection
This part includes pulse and tongue, but also careful palpation, i.e., poking, prodding, and feeling, to obtain a read on how physical symptoms that we detect together jive with the reason for your visit. Findings are reported in real time. It can be a bit of information overload for you but from the gist of the experience you will appreciate the thoroughness of a proper exam that treats the body as an organic whole and glean why conclusions have been drawn as they have.
Opening Discussion
Until this point, we have primarily been engaged in the information gathering process. You have been gathering information regarding the thoroughness of my work, and I have been gathering information about your condition. We have both been gathering information about the relative credibility of the other.
At this point I’ll make a call whether I can help or not and whether we can collaborate. I’ll provide some options and offer what I believe is best given the circumstances. Based on your goals, budget, and condition, we’ll then devise a schedule
As a reminder, you’ll want to block between 60 and 90 minutes.
