I’m honored to share with you from the treasury of Chinese medicine. Here you can learn about the thinking behind the medicine as it relates to chronic conditions and prevention. If all goes as intended, commonly held abstractions like “blocked energy” will evolve for you into a concrete language regarding immunity, metabolism, organ function, and the methods used to assist and optimize their function.
Chinese medicine is a complete treatment system. Although acupuncture is the crown jewel principally associated with relieving pain (and increasingly fertility), it is but one tool in a toolbox that includes dietary guidelines, manual therapies (massage and cupping), and herbs. Together these modalities provide a foundation for treating the entire body. . . and mind.
Balance is the centering principle of Chinese medicine. Where one aspect of the body expresses in hyperactivity, another must suffer from deficiency. At the core of conscious acupuncture is a systems approach, one that has nothing to do with the treatment before evaluating the full scope of excess and deficiency in the varying systems involved in the manifestation of a single or, as is usually the case, a cluster of symptoms. The Acugraph (video on the right) provides an objective basis for beginning a systems health discussion, as well as for monitoring progress.
